MVRDV's Rotterdam ROCKS! Wins Shift Embassy Design Competition, Promises Sustainable Future
MVRDV has won the Shift Embassy Design Competition with their innovative project, Rotterdam ROCKS!. The design features seven stacked volumes resembling rocks, creating a dynamic and interconnected space that blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor environments. The project emphasizes sustainability, using reused steel, reduced-carbon concrete, and bio-based materials. It also incorporates robotic fabrication and 3D printing technologies. The Elysium, a 5,000-square-meter exhibition space, is a standout feature, offering a unique approach to storytelling and interactive installations. The project aims to inspire and educate visitors about societal and environmental challenges.
