Colombian Red Cross Implements Early Action Protocol to Combat El Niño Drought Effects

This initiative targets vulnerable areas in Tolima and Cesar, where climate forecasts predict below-average rainfall and rising temperatures. The Colombian government has declared a state of disaster to facilitate preparedness efforts against potential droughts, wildfires, and water shortages. The EAP, activated in June 2026, leverages scientific forecasts and risk analysis to preemptively release resources and support communities before the crisis escalates.
