WestJet Strike Ends, But Flight Delays Expected to Persist for Days
WestJet has announced that its flight attendants have reached a tentative agreement with the airline, ending a one-day strike. Despite the resolution, the airline is experiencing ongoing disruptions, with multiple flights canceled, delayed, or rescheduled. The strike led to the repositioning of aircraft and crews, complicating the return to normal operations. WestJet is currently in the recovery phase, working to restore its network, but passengers are advised to check their flight status as delays are expected to continue. Aviation analytics company Cirium reported that 16 flights were canceled on Tuesday, following over 300 cancellations on Monday. The airline has extended its flexible cancellation policy to allow passengers to make changes without fees, but advises against self-rebooking to avoid losing certain protections.
