British Government Warns Tourists of Drink-Spiking and Fraud in Tokyo Nightlife
The British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has issued a warning to travelers about an increase in drink-spiking and credit card fraud incidents in Tokyo's nightlife districts. Tourists have reported being lured into bars by street touts, losing consciousness, and later discovering unauthorized charges on their credit cards. The warning highlights areas such as Kabukicho, Roppongi, Shibuya, and Ikebukuro as high-risk zones. Victims have described waking up with no memory of the events and finding large sums charged to their accounts. The British government advises tourists to avoid accepting drinks from strangers, keep their drinks attended, and secure their financial information against fraud.
