Consumer Reports Identifies Cheapest and Most Expensive Grocery Stores in the U.S.
Consumer Reports has released an analysis identifying the cheapest and most expensive grocery stores in the U.S., using Walmart as a baseline for comparison. The report found significant price differences among major supermarket chains, with warehouse clubs like Costco and BJ's Wholesale Club offering the lowest prices, at 21.4% and 21% cheaper than Walmart, respectively. On the other hand, Whole Foods was identified as the most expensive, with prices nearly 40% higher than Walmart. The analysis was conducted by comparing baskets of commonly purchased items across various grocery chains in six U.S. cities.
