SEC Director General Advocates Capital Market for Financing Abuja Infrastructure
Emomotimi Agama, Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), has proposed that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in Nigeria leverage the capital market to finance infrastructure projects in Abuja. Speaking at the Abuja Business and Investment Summit and Expo, Agama suggested using instruments like infrastructure bonds, green bonds, and real estate investment trusts to fund projects such as roads, rail, and housing. He emphasized that capital markets provide a sustainable financing model, allowing for long-term economic growth without overburdening annual budgets.
