Des Moines National Night Out Strengthens Community-Law Enforcement Relations
Des Moines hosted its National Night Out event, bringing together residents and law enforcement to foster trust and improve communication. The event featured police dog demonstrations and armored vehicle displays, highlighting the work of first responders. Lt. Shane Grego of the Polk County Sheriff's Office emphasized the importance of overcoming fear and misconceptions about law enforcement. The event aimed to break down barriers and encourage community members to seek help when needed, while also providing an opportunity for residents to connect with their neighbors and local officers.
