Tennessee Governor Bill Lee Celebrates State's Nomination for Nuclear Campus, Highlighting Historical Role
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has expressed pride in Tennessee being selected as a finalist to host a Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campus. This initiative is part of a federal program aimed at advancing nuclear energy solutions. Tennessee, along with four other states, was chosen by the U.S. Department of Energy after reviewing applications from 26 states. The proposed campuses will include facilities for storing and disposing of used nuclear fuel, and they are expected to generate significant economic growth. The initiative is seen as a step towards reclaiming America's leadership in civilian nuclear energy. Governor Lee highlighted Tennessee's historical contribution to nuclear energy during the Manhattan Project and emphasized the state's readiness to support safe and reliable energy solutions.
