Clark County Man Charged for Killing Bald Eagle, Violating Federal Law
Benjamin G. Allen, a 66-year-old resident of Brush Prairie, Clark County, has been charged with federal offenses after allegedly shooting and killing a bald eagle. The incident occurred on February 5, and Allen is accused of violating the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Washington announced the charges, which include a Class A misdemeanor for the eagle's death and a Class B misdemeanor for unlawfully killing a migratory bird. The investigation, conducted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, revealed that the eagle died from shotgun pellets lodged in its brain.
