Parish Councils Enhance Cybersecurity with .gov.uk Domain Adoption
The Parish Council Domains Helper Service (PCDHS) has successfully improved cybersecurity across parish councils by promoting the adoption of .gov.uk domains. This initiative focused on a people-first approach, engaging directly with council clerks and utilizing trusted local networks to encourage the transition from personal email accounts to official .gov.uk domains. This shift has significantly enhanced email and information management, reducing risks associated with impersonation and lack of audit trails. The project also provided councils with access to cybersecurity tools from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), further strengthening their defenses against potential threats.
