Rhode Island Experiences Strong Fall Fishing for Tautog, Sea Bass, and Striped Bass
Rhode Island is currently experiencing a robust fall fishing season, with strong reports for tautog, sea bass, and striped bass. Anglers are consistently finding success, particularly with tautog, where the bite has improved, leading to easier limits and larger fish in relatively shallow waters. Sea bass are also being caught in good numbers, often as by-catch during tautog fishing, and are expected to improve further into October. Striped bass fishing remains steady, with fish ranging from slot size to over 40 inches, found throughout rivers, bays, and along the South Shore. These bass are actively feeding in preparation for their fall migration, often fueled by larger bait.
