K Gates Faces Lawsuit Over Alleged ADA Violations After Firing IT Manager
K&L Gates, a prominent law firm, is facing a federal lawsuit filed by Bonnie Carter, a former IT manager, in the Western District of Pennsylvania. Carter alleges that the firm violated the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by terminating her employment 32 days after she returned from approved short-term disability leave. The lawsuit claims discrimination, retaliation, and a hostile work environment. Carter, who joined the firm in March 2023, reported health issues related to workplace stress multiple times before taking medical leave. Upon her return, her job responsibilities were significantly reduced, and she was subsequently terminated. The firm has not commented on the lawsuit, citing personnel matters.
