Alexa Echo Devices Experience Offline Status Despite Functional Native Apps, Highlighting Cloud Sync Issues
Many Amazon Echo users are encountering a frustrating issue where their smart devices, such as smart bulbs and plugs, are reported as 'offline' by Alexa, even though they function correctly via their native applications. This discrepancy indicates a breakdown in the cloud-to-cloud communication between Amazon's servers and the device manufacturers' servers, rather than a local network or device hardware failure. According to Valtersky, a smart home expert, common culprits include fragile third-party cloud integrations, particularly with budget-friendly smart plugs, and dynamic IP allocation by home routers, which can cause Alexa to point to outdated device addresses. This issue leads to voice commands failing, despite the devices being otherwise operational through their dedicated apps.
