Vancouver Police Investigate if 'Lucky' Found in Netherlands is Missing Man John Russell Kenny from 1994
Vancouver police are actively investigating the possibility that a man found in the Netherlands, nicknamed 'Lucky,' could be John Russell Kenny, a Vancouver man reported missing in 1994. 'Lucky' collapsed on a street in Amsterdam on May 10, 2023, and was later diagnosed with aphasia due to a brain hemorrhage or stroke, which affects his ability to communicate verbally beyond a few English words. Amsterdam-West detectives, after identifying him as 'Lucky' within a Buddhist community and 'Chris the Canadian' at a local restaurant, issued a public plea for identification. The Vancouver Police Department's missing persons unit is collaborating with Amsterdam Police and INTERPOL to determine if 'Lucky' and Kenny are the same person. Kenny was 34 years old when he went missing and was known to travel by train, residing without a fixed address in Vancouver, originally from Ontario.
