Bellevue Transit Center Undergoes Upgrades for Sound Transit's Stride Rapid Bus System
The Bellevue Transit Center is currently undergoing significant upgrades in preparation for the launch of Sound Transit’s new all-electric Stride rapid bus transit system. Stride, which is set to open later this decade, will provide frequent connections (every 10-15 minutes, 17+ hours a day) between Burien and Bellevue (S1), Bellevue and Lynnwood (S2), and along SR 522 between Shoreline and Bothell (S3). All three Stride lines will intersect with Link light rail, with the Bellevue Transit Center and Bellevue Downtown Station serving as a major Eastside hub. The construction, which began in late July, involves modifying the station canopy to accommodate new all-electric double-decker buses for S1 and S2, refreshing existing canopy steel, and installing new Stride-specific signage and real-time information screens.
