Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line Suspended Due to Construction in Des Plaines
The Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line experienced a full suspension of service on Sunday due to construction activities by the Canadian National Railway at a crossing in Des Plaines. The construction involves replacing a section of track at the Deval interlocking, where two lines intersect. As a result, no train service was available on the UP-Northwest Line for the entire day, prompting commuters to seek alternative transportation options. The line, which runs from the Ogilvie Transportation Center to Harvard, Illinois, passing through several communities including Park Ridge, Des Plaines, and Arlington Heights, is expected to resume service by Monday morning. However, Metra has cautioned that there may be delays during the morning rush hour.
