Uber Introduces Live Video Streaming for Teen Accounts, Enhancing Parental Oversight
Uber is rolling out a new live video streaming feature for its Teen Accounts, allowing linked parents or guardians to view their teen's ride in real-time through the driver's front-facing smartphone camera. This feature is currently available in nine U.S. markets and is slated for a nationwide rollout in the coming weeks. Both the teen rider and the driver receive notifications when a parent begins watching the live stream. Uber emphasizes that only the linked parent or guardian can view the live video during the trip, and the company itself cannot access the live feed in real-time. The encrypted video recording is automatically deleted after 14 days unless it is part of a safety report, in which case Uber may access the decryption key for investigation.
