San Diego Man Survives Grizzly Bear Attack in Glacier National Park
A 32-year-old San Diego resident, Daniel Crago, survived a grizzly bear attack on May 28 while hiking in Glacier National Park, Montana. The incident occurred on the Grinnell Glacier trail during the final hike of his trip. Crago encountered a grizzly cub and, moments later, a larger grizzly charged at him. Despite his attempts to shield himself, the bear bit through his arm, breaking both forearm bones and causing severe injuries. Nearby hikers, including a pediatric ER doctor, provided immediate aid, applying a tourniquet and calling for emergency assistance. Crago was airlifted to Logan Hospital in Kalispell, where he underwent multiple surgeries to save his arm. He remains grateful for the help of bystanders and the support he has received through donations to cover his medical expenses.
