Heat Fuels Flooding Storms Across the East This Weekend
Millions across the East Coast and Ohio Valley face another round of strong thunderstorms, torrential rain, and flash flooding through the weekend as tropical moisture surges inland ahead of a cold front. Rainfall rates could exceed 2.5 inches per hour, with repeated storms bringing 1–2+ inches in already saturated areas. Damaging wind gusts are possible from the I-95 corridor to the Mid-Atlantic, while locations that avoid storms will endure dangerous heat and humidity, with heat index values topping 100°F.
