Southern California Faces Unusual Humidity Amid Hurricane Genevieve
Southern California is experiencing uncharacteristically high humidity levels, attributed to a combination of atmospheric factors and tropical storms in the Pacific. Hurricane Genevieve, recently elevated to a Category 5 hurricane, is moving parallel to the Mexican coast but is not expected to bring significant moisture to the region. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Fausto, which briefly reached Category 2 status, has also contributed to the moisture levels. The dew point in downtown Los Angeles recently reached nearly 70°F (21°C), well above the typical 60°F (16°C) for this time of year. Warm ocean temperatures and a high-pressure system over the Western U.S. are further exacerbating the situation, trapping tropical moisture in the area.
