Edmonton Faces Record Rainfall and Storm Damage Amidst Soggy Summer
Edmonton has officially recorded its rainiest summer on record, with recent storms exacerbating the situation. A severe thunderstorm on Saturday brought 30 millimeters of rain, causing widespread flooding, power outages, and damage throughout the city. The storm, which included wind speeds of up to 94 km/h, led to the cancellation of a Post Malone concert at Commonwealth Stadium, affecting approximately 31,000 attendees. The city is dealing with road closures, fallen trees, and damage to infrastructure. Environment Canada reports that Edmonton has received 503.7 millimeters of rain this summer, surpassing the previous record set in 1953.
