Henley Passport Index Reveals Doubling of Passport Power Over Two Decades Amid Global Instability
The Henley Passport Index has reported a significant increase in global passport power over the past 20 years, with the average passport now allowing access to 108 destinations without a prior visa, nearly double the number from 2006. Despite this increase in travel freedom, global peacefulness has declined, with the number of state-based conflicts at its highest since World War II. Singapore leads the index, offering visa-free access to 192 destinations, while the United States ranks 10th, providing access to 180 destinations. The United Arab Emirates has shown the most significant improvement, moving from the middle of the ranking to second place, tied with Japan and South Korea.
