Texas Railroad Commission Imposes $1.1 Million in Penalties on Oil and Gas Operators
The Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) has levied over $1.1 million in penalties against oil and gas operators and businesses. These penalties were approved during the RRC's latest open meeting and are part of the agency's ongoing oversight of the state's oil and gas industry and intrastate pipeline systems. The fines include $509,905 from default orders, issued to operators who failed to appear at enforcement proceedings, and $601,992 from agreed orders, which require operators to address compliance issues while resolving enforcement actions. The RRC is the primary regulator for Texas oil and gas operations, including drilling, production, and pipeline safety.
