Carnival Cruise Line Faces Lawsuit Over Burn Injuries on Pool Deck
Jorge Luis Alverio Nunez has filed a lawsuit against Carnival Cruise Line after sustaining second-degree burns on his feet while walking barefoot on the Lido Deck of the Carnival Magic in May 2025. The lawsuit, filed in the Southern District of Florida, claims that the deck surface reached dangerously high temperatures, causing severe burns within seconds of contact. Nunez alleges negligence on the part of Carnival, citing a lack of warnings about the risk of burns due to the heat of the deck's surface. The complaint also notes that at least 25 other guests have suffered similar injuries over the past six years, and 42 passengers have complained about the hot decks during the same period. The deck material manufacturer reportedly informed Carnival as early as 2014 that the material could become dangerously hot.
