Heat Advisory Issued Across Arkansas Amid High Temperatures and Drought
A heat advisory is in effect across much of Arkansas, with heat index values reaching up to 110°F (43°C) in some areas, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The advisory covers regions including Little Rock, Fort Smith, and Jonesboro, and is expected to last through Tuesday evening, with potential extensions later in the week. High temperatures are driven by a ridge of high pressure over the southern and central United States, which is also limiting rainfall. Monday's high in Little Rock is 97°F (36°C), while Fort Smith and Hardy could see temperatures rise to 100°F (38°C). The state is also experiencing drought conditions, with moderate wildfire risks in southern and northwest Arkansas. Burn bans are currently in effect in 15 counties, including Franklin, Logan, and Jefferson.
