Allen University Implements Digital Detox Zones and Campus Improvements with Grant Funding
Allen University has introduced 'digital detox zones' as part of a broader campus improvement initiative funded by The Home Depot's Retool Your School program. These zones are designed to provide students with intentional spaces to disconnect from technology and reconnect with their surroundings and themselves. The university's project, which received a grant of up to $250,000, focused on holistic enhancements beyond physical upgrades, aiming to improve student well-being and community engagement. Other improvements include a community garden for sustainability, green living walls to enhance air quality, outdoor study areas, bike and scooter parking stations, and collaborative art projects. Additionally, essential resources like a residence hall food pantry and clothing closet were revamped, and a nail and hair studio was enhanced for student services.
