Canadian Travel to the US Drops by $3.3 Billion Following President Trump's Policies
Canadians spent $3.3 billion less on travel to the US in 2025 compared to the previous year, according to new data from Statistics Canada. This decline is attributed to President Trump's 'America First' policies, which have led to a shift in Canadian travel preferences. Instead of visiting the US, Canadians are opting for other international destinations, with travel spending abroad increasing by $3.6 billion. The report highlights a significant decrease in return trips to Canada from the US, with a 27% decline recorded between October and December 2025. This trend is continuing into 2026, indicating a persistent shift away from the US by Canadian travelers.
