Seasonable Weather with Active Jet Stream Ahead of Labor Day Weekend
New England is experiencing a seasonable yet active weather pattern as August transitions into September. A Bermuda high remains offshore, while high pressure dominates the Southern Plains and Desert Southwest. Cooler air from Canada occasionally dips into the Midwest, Great Lakes, and Northeast, keeping New England in a balanced state—neither excessively hot nor unusually cold. Temperatures are expected to average in the upper 70s to lower 80s °F (25-28 °C) through early September, with overnight lows near 60 °F (15-16 °C). The jet stream remains zonal, bringing fast-moving disturbances that could trigger showers or storms every few days. Labor Day weekend may see cooler coastal conditions due to potential onshore winds and unsettled weather from a nearby upper-level low. Rainfall over the next 10 days is projected to be near normal, with one to three inches possible depending on storm placement.
