The data indicates a decrease in drivers exceeding the posted speed limit by 10 mph, with reductions ranging from 54.7% to 96.2%. Jennifer Turner, a city official, stated that the cameras are strategically placed in areas with high rates of crashes and fatalities, emphasizing that the goal is to slow down drivers and enhance safety. Notably, 70% of drivers who received citations were ticketed only once, suggesting a significant shift in driver behavior. Specific areas like Gibson Boulevard, Unser Boulevard, and Coors Boulevard have shown considerable improvements, with Gibson Boulevard experiencing a 90% decrease in speeding between Carlisle and San Mateo.

It's not safe even to drive through."

Arlington Bowling Community Mourns Couple Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Hillsboro

Zachary and Katie Barton, both 39, from Arlington, were killed in a five-vehicle crash on Saturday night on State Highway 171 near County Road 4223, located between Hillsboro and Cleburne. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that the incident began when a driver, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, attempted to pass a truck and struck the rear of a farm tractor. Debris from the tractor's load then entered oncoming lanes, hitting multiple vehicles, including the Bartons' Ford F-150. After the initial impact, the Bartons and a 12-year-old passenger from another vehicle exited their cars and were subsequently struck by another vehicle. Katie Barton was pronounced dead at the scene, while Zach Barton died later at a hospital. The 12-year-old sustained critical injuries. The couple worked for the United States Bowling Congress, headquartered in Arlington, and were known for their contributions to the sport nationwide.
