Biden Tapes Released After Legal Battle Reveal References to Classified Material
Audio recordings of former President Joe Biden, which he fought to keep private, have been released following a legal battle. These recordings, made during the creation of his 2017 memoir, include references to notes containing classified information. The tapes were part of a 2024 special counsel's report that scrutinized Biden's handling of classified documents. The Oversight Project, a conservative nonprofit, initiated the legal proceedings to release the tapes, which were eventually disclosed after a federal appeals court ruling. The recordings reveal Biden discussing potentially classified meetings and notes, although no classified material was alleged to be in the published memoir. The tapes also highlight Biden's struggles with memory and mental faculties, as noted by special counsel Robert Hur.
