Governor Reeves Announces $3.3 Million Investment in Mississippi Youth Mental Health Services
Governor Tate Reeves has announced a significant investment of $3,375,709 to enhance mental health services for children, adolescents, and young adults in Mississippi who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding, channeled through the Community Development Block Grant CARES Act Coronavirus Relief (CDBG-CV) program, has been approved by the Mississippi Development Authority. The initiative aims to modernize treatment environments and establish new programs focused on long-term recovery. Specifically, the investments will support projects for Methodist Children's Homes of Mississippi, targeting individuals aged 24 and younger, with a particular emphasis on expanding services for low-to-moderate-income individuals in underserved communities. The grants will fund various projects, including the refurnishing of a mental health clinic, revitalization of therapeutic residential facilities, a healing arts program, and a trauma-informed transitional living program.
