Tesla's Door Handles Prompt Potential New U.S. Safety Regulations

NHTSA's decision to explore rule-making rather than a defect investigation follows a petition regarding the emergency mechanical door release design on Tesla Model 3 vehicles. The agency will gather input to determine if new safety standards are necessary.
