Naomi Campbell Overturns Charity Trustee Ban Following Deception Ruling
Former supermodel Naomi Campbell has successfully overturned a five-year ban on being a charity trustee, following a legal challenge. A UK tribunal ruled that Campbell was not involved in and was unaware of the misconduct that occurred at her charity, Fashion for Relief. The Charity Commission had initially banned Campbell in 2024 after identifying "multiple instances of misconduct," including the use of charity funds for luxury hotels and spa treatments. However, the tribunal accepted that Campbell had been the victim of "sustained deception" by a fellow trustee, Bianka Hellmich, who allegedly used forged documents and a fake email account to impersonate Campbell and misdirect funds. While Campbell shared responsibility for the charity's failure to file accounts on time, the tribunal concluded that this did not render her unfit to be a trustee given the circumstances of the deception.
