Desert Storm Memorial Nears Completion on National Mall
The National Desert Storm Memorial, honoring veterans of the 1990-91 Gulf War, is nearing completion on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Scheduled for dedication on October 24, the memorial features granite walls resembling desert dunes and a coalition shield. The project, costing over $40 million, was largely funded by the State of Kuwait. The memorial aims to provide a place of reflection and recognition for the nearly 700,000 Americans who served in the conflict.
