Farmers' Almanac Predicts Contrasting Winter Weather Across U.S.
The Farmers' Almanac has released its 2026-2027 winter forecast, predicting a season of sharp contrasts across the United States. An active southern storm track is expected to bring wetter-than-normal conditions to the South, including Southern California, Texas, and the Gulf Coast. The Northeast may experience a mix of rain, sleet, ice, and heavy wet snow, particularly inland during January and February. The Northern Plains, Upper Midwest, and Great Lakes regions are forecasted to see near-normal temperatures with quick cold snaps, snow squalls, and blustery winds. The middle of the country will likely face frequent temperature swings, leading to rapidly changing road and field conditions. The Pacific Northwest is expected to have a less predictable snow season, while the southern Rockies may see above-average mountain snowfall. El Niño is anticipated to influence the winter, potentially intensifying storm tracks and precipitation patterns.
