Los Angeles Mayoral Candidates Bass and Raman Secure Key Endorsements Amidst Sharpening Attacks
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and City Councilwoman Nithya Raman are intensifying their campaigns for the upcoming November 3 election, securing significant endorsements and engaging in increasingly pointed exchanges. Councilwoman Raman recently received the endorsement of Unite Here Local 11, a union representing over 32,000 hospitality workers in Southern California and Arizona. Mayor Bass, in turn, announced an endorsement from the Spanish-language publication La Opinión. The campaigns have also escalated their attacks; the Bass campaign launched a website, NoShowNithya.com, to highlight Raman's alleged missed votes on the City Council, while Raman's campaign countered by criticizing Bass's handling of city services and homelessness. The candidates have debated issues including homelessness, housing, public safety, environmental justice, and the effectiveness of Bass's 'Inside Safe' homelessness program.
