China Joins Brazil in WTO Dispute Over U.S. Tariffs Imposed by President Trump
China has requested to join Brazil's World Trade Organization (WTO) consultations against U.S. tariffs of up to 37.5%, which were imposed under President Trump's administration. Beijing filed the request in Geneva, citing a substantial commercial interest in the case. The tariffs, part of the U.S. Trade Act of 1974, have been challenged by China since 2018, arguing that they allow the U.S. to impose penalties without multilateral authorization. The move by China indicates its concern over the impact of these tariffs on its exports to the U.S.
