Chicago's Sundays on State Street Party Canceled for 2026 Amid New Cultural Plans
The Chicago Loop Alliance has announced that the popular street party, Sundays on State, will not return in 2026. Since its inception in 2021, the event has attracted nearly 1.5 million visitors to the Loop's main drag. The cancellation is part of a broader initiative to establish the new Loop Arts District, which aims to revitalize the downtown area with enhanced arts and cultural programming. The Loop Arts District will involve 90 arts organizations collaborating to create new events and activations. Despite the cancellation, the Loop is showing signs of recovery from the pandemic, with a decrease in vacant storefronts and increased cultural activity.
