Cyclosporiasis Outbreak in Pittsburgh Linked to Contaminated Lettuce
Pittsburgh is experiencing a surge in cyclosporiasis cases, part of a larger multi-state outbreak linked to contaminated iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico. The outbreak has affected 45 states, with over 6,700 confirmed cases nationwide. In Pittsburgh, the Allegheny County Health Department has reported 35 cases, with two hospitalizations. The outbreak is associated with the consumption of contaminated produce, and health officials are advising the public to avoid recalled products and seek medical attention if symptoms occur.
