New Pacific Hurricane Threats Emerge Amid Hawaii's Recovery from Lala
The Pacific Ocean is seeing increased hurricane activity just days after Hurricane Lala caused significant damage in Hawaii. According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), two new tropical disturbances are showing signs of development. One system, located south-southwest of Mexico, has an 80% chance of forming into a tropical depression within the next seven days. The second system, east-southeast of Hawaii, has a 50% chance of development within 48 hours and an 80% chance over the next week. Meanwhile, Hurricane Lala, which re-intensified into a Category 4 storm with sustained winds of 130 mph (209 km/h), is moving westward across the Pacific. Hawaii continues to recover from Lala's impacts, which included historic rainfall, flooding, and widespread power outages. Governor Josh Green highlighted the extensive damage in communities like Naalehu, Pahala, and Waiohinu, emphasizing the need for significant recovery support.
