Mother and Toddler Killed in Florida Lightning Strike
A tragic lightning strike in Margate, Florida, claimed the lives of Kenya Glasgow, 31, and her 2-year-old daughter, Kennedi Rose Glasgow, on August 23, 2026. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. local time as the family arrived at a relative's home. According to the Margate Police Department, the mother and daughter were struck in the driveway and later pronounced dead at separate hospitals. The National Weather Service had issued a special weather statement earlier that day, warning of scattered thunderstorms in South Florida. This incident is part of a broader trend, with at least 12 lightning-related fatalities reported in the U.S. this year (USA Today, Aug. 26, 2026).
