Severe Storms and Flooding Risk for Pittsburgh Area
The Pittsburgh area is under a slight (level 2 out of 5) risk of severe storms and a slight (level 2 out of 4) risk of flash flooding through Thursday morning, according to CBS News and the Storm Prediction Center. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 11 p.m. Wednesday for several counties, including Allegheny, Beaver, and Washington. A tornado warning was briefly issued for Beaver County but has since expired. A cool front moving through the region is expected to bring strong winds, heavy rain, and isolated thunderstorms, with the heaviest rainfall concentrated south of I-70. Rain and storm activity will persist into Thursday afternoon before tapering off early Friday morning.
