President Trump Cancels Nearly $1 Billion in Funding for Immigration and Race-Focused Programs
President Trump has ordered the cancellation of $810 million in congressionally appropriated funding through a 'pocket' rescission. This action eliminates 11 pools of unspent money across seven federal departments and agencies. The largest portion, $567 million, was allocated to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for social services to illegal immigrants, including grants to non-government organizations.
