This move is part of a broader effort to examine how the Times reviews and publishes its stories. Uthmeier's request is centered around a story involving Graham Platner, a former U.S. Senate candidate from Maine, and other articles that allegedly failed to meet editorial standards. The attorney general argues that such 'editorial malpractice' could lead to costly litigation, potentially affecting shareholders, including Florida's state employee retirement fund. Uthmeier's letter also references a controversial opinion piece by Nicholas Kristof, which has drawn legal threats from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
