Senator Warnock Highlights Rising School Supply Costs in Georgia, Advocates for Child Tax Credit Expansion
Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock has released a report indicating that Georgia families are facing increased costs for school supplies, with expenses exceeding $130 per child. The report attributes these rising costs to tariff policies implemented during President Trump's administration. Warnock, who serves as the Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Subcommittee on International Trade, Customs, and Global Competitiveness, is advocating for the expansion of the Child Tax Credit (CTC) to alleviate financial pressures on families. The report highlights significant price increases in common school supplies, such as colored pencils and lunch boxes, which have risen by 31% and 27% respectively over the past year.
