Springfield Churches Mobilize to Support Haitian Immigrants After TPS Ends
In Springfield, Ohio, a coalition of local churches and community groups is mobilizing to support Haitian immigrants affected by the recent termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti. This status, which was granted in 2010, allowed many Haitians to live and work in the U.S. legally. However, following a Supreme Court decision, TPS for Haiti ended on July 27, 2026. Reverend Adam Banks and other local pastors are organizing efforts to provide essential support, including food, clothing, and financial assistance, to the Haitian community. The Springfield Haitian Support Center and St. Vincent DePaul are actively collecting donations and providing services to help these immigrants, who are now unable to apply for unemployment benefits.
