Heat Advisory Issued for Pittsburgh as Heat Index Reaches 104°F
A heat advisory has been issued for the Pittsburgh area as temperatures are expected to climb between 90°F and 95°F (32°C to 35°C), with heat indices reaching up to 104°F (40°C). The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts that the extreme heat will persist into Thursday, with highs remaining in the lower 90s and heat indices nearing 100°F (38°C). This heat wave follows an unusually mild and wet August, where the highest recorded temperature was only 86°F (30°C). In response to the forecasted heat, Pittsburgh Public Schools have transitioned students in 35 buildings to remote learning from Tuesday through Thursday to ensure safety and continuity of education.
