National Geographic Documentary '9/11: Reunited' to Air for 25th Anniversary, Focusing on Survivor Bonds
National Geographic, in collaboration with the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, is releasing a new documentary miniseries titled '9/11: Reunited' to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The three-episode series revisits the personal stories of several survivors, with a unique focus on reuniting individuals whose paths crossed during the events. Director Julian Jones, who previously worked on NatGeo's Emmy-winning 2021 documentary '9/11: One Day in America,' was inspired to create this series to highlight the selflessness and everyday heroism observed during the tragedy. The documentary aims to bring people together to express gratitude, answer lingering questions, and remember those who were lost. Jones emphasized the challenge of allowing stories to emerge organically from participants and being guided by their wishes, while carefully selecting archival footage to be sensitive to the victims and their families.
