Frisco Woman Faces Felony Child Injury Charges, Held on $1 Million Bond
Ann Mary Burton, a 49-year-old woman from Frisco, Texas, was arrested on August 14 following an investigation into allegations of child abuse and neglect. The Frisco Police Department initiated the investigation after receiving an email on August 11 requesting a welfare check at a home on Bethel Drive. Detectives found probable cause to obtain arrest warrants for Burton. She faces a first-degree felony charge of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury, which carries a potential sentence of five to 99 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. Her bond for this charge is set at $1 million. Additionally, Burton is charged with endangering a child, a state jail felony punishable by 180 days to two years in a state jail facility and a fine of up to $10,000, with a $500,000 bond. As of Tuesday, she remained in the Collin County Jail. The police department has not released further details regarding the alleged abuse or the child's condition, stating that the investigation is ongoing.
