Delta Air Lines Passenger Arrested After Stealing Airport Tug and Crashing at John Wayne Airport
A Delta Air Lines passenger was arrested at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, after exiting a terminal door, stealing an airport tug, and driving it across the tarmac before crashing into another vehicle. The incident occurred on Tuesday night around 5:30 p.m. PT. The passenger, identified as Jay Barr, 26, was scheduled to fly to Seattle. After crashing the tug, Barr attempted to commandeer an American Airlines lavatory service truck before being apprehended by airport police. Airport spokesperson AnnaSophia Servin confirmed the security breach to CNN. Air traffic control temporarily shut down operations on the tarmac to inspect for debris, but flights quickly resumed. Barr faces charges of vehicle theft, trespassing, and vandalism.
